Connecting Communities: BNL’s Starlink Gateway Goes Live in Kiribati

Tarawa, Kiribati [01 November 2025] — BwebwerikiNET Ltd (BNL) is pleased to announce the successful activation of internet services through it’s Starlink Community Gateway, on 29 October 2025 in Nanikai, Tarawa.

This achievement marks a major milestone not only for BNL but for Kiribati as a nation, significantly strengthening international connectivity and improving access to high-speed broadband for communities across the islands.

The Starlink Community Gateway represents a key component of BNL’s mission to deliver resilient, high-capacity internet services and complements the country’s national fiber and cable infrastructure being rolled out under the Kiribati Connectivity Project (KCP).

The high-speed satellite service is currently under performance monitoring to assess stability and reliability before formal acceptance into BNL’s operational network portfolio. Once fully integrated, the Gateway will enhance network resilience, service redundancy, and broadband access across the country in coordination with retail service providers.

“This milestone represents a significant step forward for Kiribati’s digital transformation,” said Ioane N. Koroivuki, Chief Executive Officer of BwebwerikiNET Ltd.

“The Starlink Community Gateway will enable faster, more reliable connectivity to remote communities, ensuring that every I-Kiribati has the opportunity to participate in the digital economy. We are proud to deliver this progress for our people and our nation.”
